Historic Abilene Inc. will sponsor a living history meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hickok Room in the General Store at Old Abilene Town.

Anyone who would like to become involved with the Old Abilene Town living history program is invited to attend. Jeff Sheets, the Old Abilene Town living history coordinator, will lead the discussion on the upcoming season.

“Historic Abilene would like to have as many people as possible to get involved with this program,” Sheets said. “It would like to recreate scenes of daily life during the 1867-71 period of Abilene. The living history program will include the Abilene gunfighters, but there was more to life than gunfights in Abilene. Historic Abilene would like to have men, women and children depicting the life of the cattle drive days of Abilene.”

For more information about the upcoming meeting, which is free and open to the public, people may contact Sheets at (785) 922-6865 or 479-0952.
